Quantum Dream, the day I imagined the ocean

Born from a collaboration between Virgile Novarina, Walid Breidi, and the LABOFACTORY collective (Jean-Marc Chomaz, Laurent Karst), with the participation of Didier Bouchon, Antoine Garcia and Giancarlo Rizza, the installation – performance “Quantum Dream” was designed as a team from 2018 to 2021 at the CNRS Hydrodynamics Laboratory – École Polytechnique, with the support of the “arts & sciences” Chair, the École Polytechnique, the École des Arts Décoratifs – Université PSL and the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation.

An installation and “sleep performance” that reveals, through a dreamlike shadow-scanning process, the richness of inner experience during sleep, despite the sleeper’s apparent immobility. A dialogue between intense brain activity and the living forces that animate the ocean, whose smooth surface masks its deep activity.
